What is your day job?
I am a general dentist.
How long have you lived in the Grand Traverse area?
Nearly two years this fall!
What is your favorite aspect of living/working in the Traverse City area?
I enjoy all of the activities that living in TC gives me access to. From the TART Trail to the VASA and the wineries on the Leelanau and Mission peninsulas, there are endless things to do.
What do you do for fun?
I love mountain biking, cycling, hiking, snowboarding, Pilates, yoga, and exploring around town with my dogs, Maizey (the sweetest Goldendoodle) and Blue (the most adorable Pomsky). I also love to read, and I’m a huge foodie.
How do you get involved in the community?
To stay involved in the community, I like to join clubs and participate in social sports. I am an avid participant in the local run club, walk club, and biking groups. I also volunteer as much as I can throughout the year at local events and provide donated dental services at various clinics. Additionally, I serve as a delegate for the district dental society, where I advocate for the needs of dentists and patients in Northern Michigan.
What is your favorite local business (restaurant, shop, service, etc.) and why?
I can’t pinpoint just one favorite business, but you’re most likely to find me at Brick Wheels, FORM Modern Pilates, The Daily Grind, Three Trees Vineyard, The Little Fleet, Loco Boys, North Bar, and Contigo. All of these businesses offer an inviting atmosphere that makes me feel like I never want to leave.
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
Being a dentist.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I attended the University of Michigan for both undergrad and dental school (Go Blue!). During my freshman year, I tried out for the women’s competitive boxing team. I made the team and finished the year by winning a national title in my weight class.
What is something you learned in the last week?
Last weekend, I attended an advanced continuing education course on molar root canals at NOVA Southeastern University. I love learning and always strive to enhance my dental skills.
How can other TCYP members support you (personally or professionally)?
TCYP members can support me by simply reminding me about events. I have a bad habit of overbooking myself and occasionally forgetting them.
