What is your day job?
I wear a few hats actually! I have my own business consulting firm, Solutions By Farr, LLC. I’m a Senior Mortgage Loan Originator with Citywide Home Mortgage. I am also the Life Insurance Professional for Chris Payne Farmers Insurance! I also volunteer in 16 different nonprofits and serve on the board of 6 of those! Learn more here: www.BraytonFarr.com
How long have you lived in the Grand Traverse area?
I’m a 7th generation Leelanau County resident! Originally from Northport! I left for GVSU after high school, lived in Grand Rapids for about 9 years and returned back home to Leelanau County in 2018!
What is your favorite aspect of living/working in the Traverse City area?
Absolutely my family and the community. That’s what ultimately brought me back. I missed the community connections and knowing someone almost everywhere I go!
What do you do for fun?
I have many hobbies and a never-ending desire to learn (hence the multiple hats and licenses I carry!). I love tech, photography, working on cars, and my most recent interest is healthy eating and going to the gym (it’s one of my least favorite activities!)
How do you get involved in the community?
I am part of 16 different nonprofits! Which include:
- Leelanau County Chamber of Commerce – President
- Leelanau Peninsula Economic Foundation – Vice-Chairperson
- Northport Dog Parade, Inc – Vice President
- Suttons Bay Chamber of Commerce – Board Member
- SEEDS Ecology & Education Centers – Board Member
- Evergreen Community Group – Chairperson of the Board
- Leelanau County Prospectors Club – Executive Committee Member
- Traverse Connect – Ambassador & Executive Investor
- Traverse City Young Professionals – Member
- Home Builders Association Northwest Michigan – Member
- Aspire North Realtors® – Affiliate Member & Education Committee
- Women’s Council of Realtors® – Strategic Partner
- Cedar Chamber of Commerce – Member
- Office of Possibilities (OOPs) – Member
- The Economic Club of Traverse City – Member
What is your favorite local business (restaurant, shop, service, etc.) and why?
I really love MI Market in Suttons Bay. The owner is almost always there and he’s one of the most upbeat always shining people I know, plus great sandwich and snacks! BUT there are so many others!
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
When I was in college, I worked in a produce warehouse from 5pm until 1am stacking pallets riding around on a pallet jack. I was in the best shape of my life, but that was a weird one!
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I actually do sleep and enjoy resting with my dog Ranger!
What is something you learned in the last week?
I learned a TON about AI recently. Believe it or not, I really do not use AI much in my day to day yet but am slowly learning more and more!
How can other TCYP members support you (personally or professionally)?
I always love meeting new people, so if I haven’t met you, give me a call, text, or email and let’s grab coffee or go for a hike and chat! If you do not have life insurance, let’s have a conversation about your needs. If you’re looking to buy or refinance a house, give me a call for a mortgage. If you’re starting or work for a business or involved in a non-profit and need a new website, custom emails, calendar organization, or digital file management, give me a call!
