TCYP Member Spotlight – Nicki Croad

What is your day job?
I am the owner of CC Jewelers on South Garfield Ave.

How long have you lived in the Grand Traverse area?
I live about 40ish minutes outside of TC but love this Northern Michigan area and seeing the changing seasons on my commute everyday! We live in a gorgeous state! I’ve been working in Traverse City on and off since I was about 19.

What is your favorite thing about living/working in the Traverse City area?
I love the people and the atmosphere here in Traverse City, I’ve met some of the kindest people I know here.

What do you do for fun?
I love to spend time with my husband, we were newly married in May 2022 and we both work alot so time together is precious. We are movie buffs, and we also love to find new restaurants to try as well. I enjoy going out with friends, I also enjoy hobbies such as reading and baking.

How do you get involved in the community?
I’m blessed to be able to help in various areas through volunteering,  and through my business as a sponsor for local events/charities. I also get involved by holding positions such as member of the TCYP programming committee!

What is your favorite local business (restaurant, shop, service, etc.) and why?
I enjoy frequenting local coffee shops and diners! It would be hard to pick a number one favorite as they all have just a little bit different atmosphere and flavor, so it depends on the day! All add to the charm of Traverse City!

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
My “weirdest” job I guess would have been working on an Alpaca farm. My unofficial first job, I’d go a couple days a week as a young teen to be a farm hand.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
It may or may not come across as many years in retail have taught me a lot about people skills and communication, but I’m actually a very shy person!

What is something you learned in the last week?
I learned more about the capabilities of my laser welding machine  – that may not sound exciting at the outset, but to a jeweler it is an amazing and infinitely useful tool.

How can other TCYP members support you (personally or professionally)?
Stop by and see me at CC Jewelers, introduce yourself, and we can become friends and resources for one another. Join a TCYP committee and help us create amazing networking opportunities!
