What is your day job?

Assistant guide at Northern blooms Montessori.

How long have you lived in the Grand Traverse area?

I have lived in Traverse City my whole life.

What is your favorite thing about living/working in the Traverse City area?

I am fortunate enough to live in town on the boardman lake. I love that I have the water, tart trail and nature to greet me as I walk out the door. I can walk or ride my bike to work the beach or local parks. I also really love all the different options for schools we have here in traverse city.

What do you do for fun?

For fun I like to visit all the cool hiking spots this area has to offer. I love going to the beach. I enjoy running. I am apart or the traverse city track club. It’s a great community of runners of all ages and levels. I also enjoy reading. I like to go to the local libraries and coffee shops.

How do you get involved in the community?

I am the chair for the program committee for TCYP. I do volunteer work through Goodwill and Generations ahead. I also like to attend local events around town that support charities and families in need.

What is your favorite local business (restaurant, shop, service, etc.) and why?

I have a lot of favorite local places. Here are a few: First, to eat, I really enjoy Taproot. They have great vegan/vegetarian options. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I also really love Little Fleet. The vibe there and people who work there are wonderful. I love the soup and bread events they have that support local charities and families in need.  If you’re looking to shop, I highly recommend the great thrift stores we have. Women’s Resource Center and Cherryland Humane Society, to name a couple. Gives back and is good for the environment. It’s a win win! State hospital grounds and trails are also a gem here.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

I can’t really think of a weirdest job. Although I will say that all jobs are a learning and growing experience.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

I have a plate and 8 screws in my elbow.

What is something you learned in the last week?

Something I learned in the last week is that there are people in town who have come up with a way to make 3D printer houses. This is amazing and blew my mind. It’s a step on a solution to the affordable housing crisis.

How can other TCYP members support you (personally or professionally)?

The best way you can support me is by coming to a TCYP event. We have a great group that sets up monthly happy hours, fun days and morning meet ups. It’s a great way to make new connections and get involved. Look forward to meeting you and talking more.
