Earlier this month, Traverse Connect joined partners from across the state to discuss strategies for attracting and developing talent in Michigan.
As a member of Back to Michigan, we presented our talent attraction initiative, Michigan’s Creative Coast, to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) talent division. Back to Michigan is a statewide talent attraction collaboration that includes a series of virtual and in-person career fairs targeted at people interested in relocating to Michigan or those who are local and unemployed. Through this meeting, we not only learned from the diverse strategies employed across the state, but we also received valuable feedback from the MEDC for shaping our local talent attraction strategy. We look forward to continuing these valuable collaborations to strengthen and diversify Michigan’s workforce.
Additionally, we were honored to join the Michigan Women’s Commission on their Women’s Economic Recovery Tour to discuss efforts to support women in tech in the Grand Traverse region. Thank you to the Traverse City Commissioner, Katie Horvath, for inviting us to participate in the panel discussion. Alongside Barb Termaat of Newton’s Road and Jody Trietch with Boomerang Catapult and Northern Michigan Angels, we discussed the various aspects of attracting and supporting women in the local tech and entrepreneurship scene.
