TCYP Member Spotlight – Heather Sauer

What is your day job?

I am a Business Development Representative for PMP Personnel Services & Axios Recruiting, working closely with business owners and HR professionals to help them connect with the right talent for their organizations. In addition to my work in staffing and recruiting, I have launched my own travel agency, Heather’s Happy Travels, where I assist individuals in planning their ideal vacations.

How long have you lived in the Grand Traverse area?

I have lived in Traverse City for about 10 years, relocated from downstate.

What is your favorite aspect of living/working in the Traverse City area?

I love the natural beauty, the local food and wine scene, and the strong sense of community in Traverse City. It’s such a wonderful place to raise a family.

What do you do for fun?

I have a passion for exploring new places and am always seeking my next adventure. Traveling to different destinations excites me, whether it’s discovering a hidden gem or experiencing a new culture. I also love attending Broadway shows, dining out, and meeting new people, as each experience adds something special to my journey.

How do you get involved in the community?

I strive to be actively involved in the community whenever possible, but I focus on opportunities that align with my family’s activities and work. This approach allows me to make the most of my time while staying engaged and connected.

What is your favorite local business (restaurant, shop, service, etc.) and why?

One of my favorite local businesses is Mundo’s. I first started visiting when they opened on Boon Road, and it quickly became a go-to spot for me. The inviting atmosphere makes it the perfect place for both work and personal meetings—all while enjoying an exceptional cup of coffee.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

I haven’t had any particularly unusual jobs, but my experience has been in retail management and human resources. However, the most fun job I’ve had was working as a beer cart girl at a golf course—it was a great way to meet people and enjoy the outdoors while working.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

There’s not much about me that would come as a surprise—I’m a pretty open book.

What is something you learned in the last week?

Last week was a week full of learning for me. I attended a travel agent retreat where I gained valuable insights into various travel suppliers and learned how to create engaging content videos to better assist my clients.

How can other TCYP members support you (personally or professionally)?
