What is your day job?
I am a Growth Manager for a small consultancy called Blue Lantern. We work mostly with early- to mid-stage startups.
How long have you lived in the Grand Traverse area?
We moved to the area of April 2020, so about one year!
What is your favorite thing about living and working in the Traverse City area?
I love the sense of community here, and the area in general has everything I love to do. Being outside, great food, breweries and having a lot to do makes for an ideal living situation.
What do you do for fun?
Being outside is generally where I find most of my fun (kayaking, running, hiking, etc.), but I also love to write songs with my guitar.
How do you get involved in the community?
Due to COVID-19, I sadly haven’t had as much of an opportunity to get involved in the community as I would like, but being part of TCYP has certainly gotten me more involved, and I’m loving it thus far.
What is your favorite local business and why?
I’m a big fan of the Filling Station downtown, but it’s also hard to pass up a trip to Moomers. The Filling Station just has a great vibe, staff, and of course, great beer. Moomers is pretty close to our house and I have a huge sweet tooth.
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
I was a phonebook delivery guy for a summer during college.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I am an avid Ultimate Frisbee player and have competed in the National Championships multiple times.
What is something you learned in the last week?
I learned that it’s important to shovel your driveway in a timely manner all year, or else once the snow melts, the entire driveway turns to ice. All of it.
How can other TCYP members support you?
The general support and networking has been great, but I think continuing to chat and having a transferal of ideas and skills would be great. I can’t wait to get together in person as well!
