What is your day job?
I’m currently working as both a freelance writer and personal trainer.
How long have you lived in the Grand Traverse area?
I grew up visiting TC but officially moved to the area in March 2020.
What is your favorite thing about living/working in the Traverse City area?
It’s impossible to pick just one! Obviously, I love the natural beauty of our area no matter what the season. Whenever I need to clear my head, I can go for a drive along the water or hit the trails for a scenic hike.
What do you do for fun?
I truly love exercising. Especially with all of the opportunity for outdoor activity, I like challenging myself physically by hiking, surfing (or any watersport for that matter), and running. On the other hand, I also like checking out local breweries and wineries on the weekends.
How do you get involved in the community?
Networking and volunteering with TCYP have been great ways to get tapped into the community of young people in town while also giving back.
What is your favorite local business and why?
I’m somewhat biased after working at the Workshop Brewing Company for a while, but they have some of the best food and beer in town. Moreover, I admire the way they run their business based on values of improving the environment, fostering community, and celebrating craft.
What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
I don’t know about weird, but one of the coolest jobs I’ve had was researching sustainability, development, and community dynamics in rural Costa Rica for a summer internship.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I have a twin sister who still lives in my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve also never seen a lot of super popular movies such as Austin Powers or Star Wars… don’t @ me.
What is something you learned in the last week?
I’m probably late to the party, but I recently downloaded an investing app. I’m slowly but surely learning more about the stock market and investing.
How can other TCYP members support you?
If you or someone you know is looking to get in shape especially after the quarantine-bod curse, I would love to work with you towards your fitness goals! Please reach out or pass my name along. I’d also love to chat with any other entrepreneurial-minded YP’s to brainstorm and bounce business ideas off.
