WORKING TOWARD 2030
Our Vision: By 2030 the Grand Traverse Region will be a diversified economic destination of choice powered by growth-oriented enterprises providing competitive total compensation to match our world-class quality of life.
How will we achieve this vision?
Growth will come primarily from new and existing companies producing goods and services for export outside the region, such as business-to-business products and services, manufacturing, and software technology, as well as the growth of local service, supplier, and vendor firms. These companies will provide family-sustaining jobs, high revenue per employee, and year-round job opportunities.
Through our Michigan’s Creative Coast initiative, we are branding the region as an exceptional place to live, explore, and fulfill your career. The ‘creative’ in Creative Coast is intended to inspire the entrepreneurial mindset, the families seeking a higher quality of life, the digital nomads who can live anywhere. Additional wealth and prosperity in the region will result in significant community benefits including an expanded local government tax base, nonprofit/charitable sustainability, infrastructure improvements, and broad enhancement of regional culture.
Transformational growth will result in significant economic gains for the region. Data is an imperfect, yet necessary, tool to measure those gains. While individually, the measures below have their flaws, together they represent a bold, yet realistic vision for our future economy.
