Foundations of Leadership ~  A partnership between the Office of Possibilities - Traverse City (OOP’s-TC) at Northwestern Michigan College and Traverse Connect.

Leading as an authentic expression of self, of service to others and key driver of organizational success.

Leadership is often thought of as “Positional.”  If you have a title then you are a leader.  But Leadership can also be thought of as “Possessional.”  It’s a mindset and skillset to be developed which are internal to who you are as a person.

Foundations of Leadership (FOL) is a community-based program that prepares people for roles in leadership which are authentic expressions of self.  To know who we are as leaders is to know who we are called to serve.  When these two aspects are aligned, organizational success and personal fulfillment ignite.

Topical learning in areas such as Design, Emotional Intelligence, Vocation & Calling, Transformational Curiosity, Spirituality, Creativity, Entrepreneurial Mindset, and Leadership form the basis for this professional and personal development journey.

About the Instructor

Steve Rice is a faculty member at Northwestern Michigan College and Co-Founder of the Office of Possibilities – Traverse City, MI. (OOP’s-TC).  He is a thought leader and futurist in the space of higher edu and human flourishing.

His vision is a world in which all people live in freedom and the fullness of their potential;  and the hope-filled power of education to actually pull this off.  This requires us to “unplug” education as we have known it, and “replug” education into all that it is meant to be.

Steve is the founding dean and lead visionary for Humanitas, a startup, edtech initiative focused on human flourishing.  In this space, imagination, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship seamlessly integrate to produce a model for education as care of souls.
