Traverse Connect Announces Local Business Support for the TCAPS 2024 Bond Proposal

The Traverse Connect Board of Directors and the following Grand Traverse County businesses support the Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) 2024 Bond Proposal on the August 6, 2024 ballot, which is a renewal at the same bond millage rate of 3.1 Mill. Traverse Connect and the following businesses enthusiastically support this renewal to fund projects to keep Traverse City area students safe, warm, and dry.   

Traverse City Area Public Schools educates approximately 9,000 students at 16 schools within 300 square miles and is the region’s second-largest employer. The administration and School Board have shown incredible responsible management of its $400 million in assets, giving the district an S&P Global credit rating of AA-, ranking it in the top 2% of Michigan’s public schools. 

Projects proposed for the TCAPS 2024 Capital Bond Proposal include the renovation and reconstruction of Central Grade School, safety and security upgrades, facility improvements at all schools, technology upgrades, and bus replacements. Facility improvement plans include enhancements for 35,000 square feet of instructional space for Music and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). 

Quality education and school facilities are critical community assets for attracting and retaining talent. The regional business community depends on TCAPS continuing to provide safe schools with advanced educational facilities and technology equipment to support our region’s families and provide a high quality of life for generations to come.
