Former Lake Superior Community Partnership CEO and Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance member, Sarah Lucas, this week became the leader of the new Office of Rural Development (ORD).
The ORD operates within the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and will serve as the lead state agency helping rural communities grow and prosper. The office will work on policies and investments to increase economic and community development and improve the quality of life in rural places and in small towns.
“I’ve spent my career working with and championing the causes of rural communities and care deeply about the challenges and opportunities they face,” said Lucas. “I’m honored to have this opportunity to use the knowledge and relationships that I’ve built over the years to support rural Michigan through the Office of Rural Development, and I’m excited to continue to work with partners like the LSCP in this new role.”
Traverse Connect has already begun working with Sarah in her new role and looks forward to working together to move northern Michigan forward.
